Music on Hold is the audio callers hear while they wait in a queue, are placed on hold, or are being transferred. Default music is installed automatically. You can add more MOH categories and use different music for different queues or extensions.
Adding a MOH Category
- Go to PBX › Music on Hold
- Click Add Entry
- Name the category (e.g. “Sales Queue”)
- Enter the Path of the server directory that holds the audio files. The default music lives in
/usr/share/freeswitch/sounds/music/default. - Click Save
There’s no upload button in the portal. For custom hold music, ask your administrator to copy the WAV or MP3 files into a directory on the server, then enter that path here.
Assigning to Queues
In a call queue, the Music on Hold field is free text. Enter the MOH source, for example local_stream://default. That way your sales queue and support queue can play different music.
